Eastland Sports Organization Code of Conduct
The following outlines the conduct expectations required to provide a safe, encouraging, and positive sports environment for everyone involved with the Eastland Sports Organization. Failure to abide by this code of conduct will warrant proper disciplinary actions.
1. Athlete Code of Conduct
As a participant of Eastland Sports Organization (ESO) you represent not only yourself but the organization. Participation is a privilege, not a right and therefore good sportsmanship, fair play and ethical conduct are basic expectations of the Eastland Sports Organization. Anything less will not be tolerated and subject to discipline, suspension, and/or permanent ban.
As an ESO athlete I understand that it is my responsibility:
- To show respect for my teammates, coaches, opponents, and officials.
- To respect the integrity and judgement of the officials.
- To exhibit good sportsmanship, fair play, and proper conduct on and off the field.
- To refrain from physical and verbal abuse (including any profane, vulgar, or other offensive language, action, or gesture towards teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, and spectators).
- To adhere to the established rules and standards of the game being played.
- To win with character, and lose with dignity.
2. Parent/Guardian/Spectator Code of Conduct
I hereby pledge to be an example of positive support, care, and encouragement for my child while they are participating in ESO by following these ethics:
- I will encourage and practice good sportsmanship by demonstrating respect for all players, coaches, and officials at every game, practice, or other ESO sanctioned event.
- I will place the emotional and physical well-being of my child ahead of my personal desire to win.
- I will support the coaches, volunteers and officials working with my child in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.
- I expect and will adhere to, a sports environment for my child that is free from drugs, tobacco, alcohol, and vulgar or abusive language, and will refrain from such use at all ESO sanctioned events.
- I will remember that the game is for the children’s fun and enjoyment; no scholarships or monetary awards are given to the child based on their performance.
- I will expect my child to treat other players, coaches, spectators, and officials with respect.
3. Coach/Volunteer Code of Conduct
Coaching a youth sport program is a privilege that is not to be taken for granted. As a coach or volunteer, appointed by ESO, you have an important role in the development of the young children of the community. We strive to teach each child the positive values of good sportsmanship, fair play, and teamwork- values they can use throughout their lives. To ensure each coach is acting in the best interest of the children and the league, ESO has developed the following code of conduct for interactions with players, parents, spectators, coaches, and game officials. As an ESO coach or volunteer:
- I will emphasize and focus on player development, rather than winning or losing.
- I will treat each player according to their age group and physical abilities, remembering that players develop at different rates both physically and emotionally.
- I will lead by example in demonstrating fair play and good sportsmanship to all my players.
- I will work to ensure safe conditions for all participants.
- I will learn the rules that apply to my division of play according to ESO and will teach them to my players.
- I will encourage and lead by example to be respectful of the game, opposing teams, other coaches, and game officials.
- I will not use any profane, obscene, or abusive language at or in front of the children, including my own child.
- I will avoid unsportsmanlike conduct towards any player, opposing team, coach, umpire/official, spectator, or parent.
- I understand that there is to be absolutely no smoking, tobacco, vaping or alcohol use at any sanctioned ESO event including practice.
- I will treat all facilities with respect by never abusing or using the facilities in a manner they were not intended.
- I will abide by the practice policy: There will be no scheduled or unscheduled practices, games or ESO events on Sunday and Wednesday unless approved by the ESO Board of Directors. No more than 2 team practices and a skills night per week. Failure to comply to the practice rule may warrant disciplinary action by ESO.
Code of Conduct Zero Tolerance Enforcement Policy
Eastland Sports Organization (ESO) strives to create a positive and respectful environment for all participants and spectators. To help maintain that standard, we ask everyone to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects good sportsmanship and respect for others.
ESO maintains a zero-tolerance policy for inappropriate behavior at all ESO sanctioned events. The organization reserves the right to discipline and/or immediately remove any athlete, coach, parent/guardian, spectator or fan whose behavior violates the ESO Code of Conduct with or without a warning.
Inappropriate behavior includes but is not limited to:

- Harassment, berating or verbal abuse of players, coaches, officials or other attendees
- Unruly, disruptive, or unsportsmanlike behavior of any kind

Athletes who receive a suspension of any nature will not be refunded the registration fee(s).
